Green Grin-o-meter

The vision behind the creation of the Green Grin-o-meter was to create a fun and interactive version of nef’s already popular Happy Planet Index for a new younger audience. The site was built by us in partnership with nef (the new economics foundation) and with the support of Caerphilly, Torfaen and Carmarthenshire County Borough Councils in Wales.

The Green Grin-o-meter takes kids on a colourful learning quiz, accompanied by the site’s quirky little characters, where they can find out how their everyday actions impact the environment, their health and their happiness. The questions and feedback were developed after running workshops with children in three Welsh primary schools and reworked by us to make the content more youth specific and relevant to the bright young audience.

The site is built using the open source Symphony content management system to allow site administrators to edit questions and feedback with new and relevant information. This means that the site content can be kept fresh and up to date for those kids always one step ahead!
